[NEAC GolfLeague] Week 5 of Fight 1 (redo)

If they pay a pro-rata share of the dues I might agree. Otherwise I would leave it to the winners to take care of the subs. I wouldn’t want to do the math on this though. If a sub played on several teams and 2 of them came in the money, how much does the sub get? What about all the teams he subbed for that didn’t win? Seems the sub has the best of all worlds as he could sub for multiple teams hoping one lands in the money! How many times does a sub need to have played for team in the money to qualify? What if the sub didn’t help the team win any points? Let’s do what they do in Washington and Concord and refer this to a committee for study!

Just to add to the Treasurer's mathematical challenges, I think any subs contributing to the winning teams point totals should get a pro-rata share of the purse and should be able to vote that share to either the bar tab or the Commish (since he puts up with so much s__t from you guys all year long!). My humble opinion.

Understood Dave. It's good to get it out there and decide so there are no surprises, particularly as we have added some new folks to the league over the past couple of years.

In that spirit, one last bit of disclosure the disbursements (that's treasurer speak for payouts). Currently, I have 75% of the dues going to winnings for 1st-3rd place in 3 separate flights (2 regular season flights and 1 playoff flight - subject to change if format changes). The remaining 25% is set aside for the party fund. This ensures that a 3rd place nets you your full dues back, while also ensuring that we have enough for the party so as to limit any additional money needed from folks that night.

Well said... seems reasonable... If I understand this correctly... "the obligation lies with the member to arrange with Dana how they want their winnings dispersed/donated if they cannot make the end of year outing/banquet"

I raised this issue not because it affected me but it affected at least 2 members that I know of that were unaware of what happened to their winnings because they had a conflict with the end of year event.

In the interest of full disclosure, when I began collecting money as treasurer a few years ago, this was the understood, if not written, rule of the league dues. I assumed everyone had discussed and agreed to the rule. I bring all winnings to the party, pre-divided among the winning teams. However, we also always set aside a % of the dues for the party. I do not recall if we have ever had no shows since I have been doing this, but regardless, I think it is only fair that we use the party fund and everyone coming to the party should have an expectation that we may need to throw in extra. It should not fall on the Commish to cover the overage, but we should not be using the winnings of no shows either. If anything, we should be guilting the winners that showed into donating some of their new found wealth.

That said, I am not signing up to chasing people down. I am far too lazy for that. So, if it is agreed that winners should keep their winnings or donate as they see fit, then they would be responsible to work that out with me. Otherwise, I am inclined to hand the no show winnings over to the Commish and let him do with them as he sees fit. Need I remind you that he is from Chicago?
