[NEAC GolfLeague] Just my two cents!!!

My opinion ( or 2 cents).
Both candidates are seriously flawed. Donald Trump has publicly made some very un complimentary comments about various individuals and groups within our society( which is unacceptable ).Hillary Clinton has also stated publicly that at least half of Donald Trump's supporters are "deplorable and irredeemable" ( also, this is unacceptable) . Even though she later clarified this statement somewhat by saying she didn't mean half. Even if she down graded the percentage to 10 % she is still sending the same message to millions of hard working, tax paying and law abiding citizens. I am one of the deplorable ( among millions ) she is referring to. However, I refuse to accept being labeled as such. I believe millions and millions of deplorable and irredeemable people who have gone before us have done more than their share in helping to build this great nation of ours.
I feel our great country is headed in the wrong direction and feel there are many major issues ( re: Mike Fahey's email ) that are not being addressed and dealt with in our country's best interest. I believe the primaries we just went through revealed that most people believe Washington DC is broken and major changes need to be made. Also, most believe the " establishment" candidates are not going to make the major changes that are required to get us back on tract. In some ways ( even after the primaries ) I feel the "establishment" still has not got the message that millions and millions of Americans are "totally fed up " and want change.
I am not a " happy camper", however, I believe Donald Trump is the lesser of two evils and the only one that has a reasonable chance of changing ( or at least giving it everything he has) what needs to be changed.
Ok...so maybe I over did it and gave you 4 or 5 Cents :):)

Perhaps it's time to vote for a democracy, one where our vote actually counts and means something. And where people want to vote because it does. Super Pacs, special interest group and corporate money will decide the direction of this country.

Dear Fellow Golfers and Friends,
I normally would never do this but I thought it might be interesting to send the email below to all my fellow duffers that I had recently sent to a couple recalcitrant and wayward siblings in the hopes of generating some dialogue! Please feel free to completely disregard this as the musings of a poor salesman who hasn't sold a single thing today and is inclined not to work to change that stat at least until tomorrow! This is not an effort to change anyone's political persuasion but more so to reach out to those disaffected individuals who are inclined not to vote at all because of the relative poor character of both candidates. With that said, please read my thoughts below and feel free to give your feedback and inputs by replying to all so we can all partake in the ongoing exchange.
So to give you a sense of where I am coming from and my rationale, I must first state that I agree with most everyone that the two candidates are both extremely personally flawed individuals. Neither makes me feel good, when I think about their character. However, the link below is to an article written by a gentleman named Thomas Sowell. I have a lot of respect for this guy and this article does a good job of describing how I also look at their character flaws.

Hillary's character flaws have had a big, negative impact on our country and its security and Donald's character faults certainly include being extremely shallow and boorish to women. Though I certainly don't like this, it's hard to believe that people can consider this as completely disqualifying, in and of itself, especially when you reflect how America held and still holds JFK in such high regard even though he's also known as a complete womanizer!
So, I guess, I can say I am voting for Trump, not because I like the man in any personal way or because I can respect his character but because of, what I believe are a few very important positions that he holds. I list them below and I think they have huge long term consequences for this nation.
Supreme Court Justices - Trump has given a list of what I understand ( have read) are justices who would interpret and make their decisions based on the US Constitution. This is exactly what the Supreme Court and it's justices should be doing. All their decisions should be based on the US Constitution. Hillary's answer in the third debate on the Supreme Court justices absolutely floored me! It certainly must have made you very uncomfortable? She wants to choose Supreme Court justices to be there "to represent the little people" against the powerful. In our system, it's the legislature that represents the people! The Supreme Court justices are there to be NEUTRAL arbiters in their decision, on whether a law passed by Congress, is Constitutional or not! That's it! I thought her answer was a nice, thinly veiled way of saying that she's quite fine with activist judges who are more driven by the outcome they want then a decision based on what's allowable by the Constitution.
Immigration - Unbridled and uncontrolled immigration into this country will change it forever. We all want legal immigration but it needs to be controlled and it needs to be based on what is good for the country. Right now, we don't know who's coming in and whether they truly want to be Americans or just get away from where they're coming from? Some of them could very well even be dangerous to our country!
The size and scope of our Federal Government - In a general sense, I think it is quite evident that our country is going in the wrong direction and has been going in the wrong direction for quite some time ( not just because of our current President!). I am for small government. Though this has tended to make me vote Republican in the past, I've come to realize that whether we are run by Democrats or Republicans, the direction of our country never really changes and the scope of government just keeps growing. I am not sure of this, maybe I am just more hopeful that Trump can be such a shock to the system that some changes, large and small, will be made.
Corruption - we have seen significant scandals under the current president. The IRS scandal, the VA scandal, Benghazi, Hillary's emails and the following FBI/DOJ coverup , Fast and Furious, and the monitoring of reporters phones and emails in an attempt to stop leaks. On top of all of this, we have the Clinton Foundation and it's evident pay to play? How did the Clintons who even Hillary famously stated were "broke" when they exited the White House in 2000, come to now have a worth of around $200M 15 years later? Something smells to high heavens!
So, in the end, because of the points above, I think it is imperative that we go in a different direction than Hillary. I also know that putting Donald Trump in charge carries its risks! But I am confident that good people around him, like Mike Pence, will limit his possible overreach. I also am quite confident that, if Mr. Trump does get to the White House, the media will immediately start to do it's job again and any abuses will be fully investigated and exposed!
