Message-ID: Hi Everyone, Let me first ask for everyone's pardon for using the golf list for a non golf topic but I am so concerned about the wrong direction our country has been going in and how important it is for a new direction before our country is truly lost. Let me start by saying that it is fair to say that a lot of people think one or both candidates are quite flawed. This is the choice before us but instead of throwing up our hands in despair over this, let's review the direction each candidate gave the country under their 4 years of leadership. Trump's 4 years were an emphasis on growing the economy , trying to level the field we compete on in global trade and making our allies live up to their security treaties including Nato so they would all be in a better position to defend themselves and not simply rely on the US to be the world's policeman. He was fairly successful in these endeavors with real middle class income rising over 7% above inflation in his first three years (Covid and the lockdowns impacted the 4th year). He put tariffs on quite a few goods from China, which, though he was pilloried for when he did it, the next administration has kept them in place. He was the first President to get our Nato allies to pay at or very close to their 2% (GDP) commitment they all made when they signed into the Nato treaty. Most importantly, there were 4 years of peace. Under Biden/Harris, America's direction changed in some key areas and changed very quickly seemingly without regard for consequences. Executive orders signed within the first week of entering office opened our borders to what is now estimated to be between 10-20M illegals over these 3+ years. The administration incentivized them to come giving out welfare / phones/ and housing. NGO's, paid for by your tax dollar participated in making all this happen. Not a single Democrat politician pushed back against Biden/Harris on their border policy that I am aware. We simply have no idea who has come in and this has direct National Security concerns and most grotesquely has led to huge amounts of human and sex trafficking! The administration has admitted to NOT knowing the whereabouts of over 300,000 kids that have come across the border! This alone is a scandal. I have read articles where the cartels now make almost as much with human trafficking as they do getting drugs across the border! There is no easy way to say it but our government is complicit in this! And for 3 years, Kamala told us the border was secure! Another big change was dramatic movement away from fossil fuels towards EV's, wind power, and solar. The Biden Administration immediately shut down the Keystone pipeline that was being built. It didn't take too long for the price of oil and gas to increase fairly substantially. This and increased Federal spending in the Biden/Harris administration were two key drivers of inflation. One of the lesser known consequences of the rise in oil prices was how it empowered both Russia and Iran. Each of these bad actor's economies are mainly driven by oil and natural gas. Both country's economies were struggling when Biden came in to office due to the low price of oil that Trump had helped produce and Trump had a very effective embargo of Iranian oil during his time and so both were relatively quiet on the world stage partially because they simply didn't have the money to cause the mayhem they are now causing. If you think Republicans are pals with big oil and Democrats are not their friends (as most people do) you can look it up but Exxon Mobil's stock price at the end of Donald Trump's first term was $30-$32 or so. Right now, its at about $116/share. You tell me who is the friend of big oil? Lastly, and maybe some of the most important items that don't get discussed too much are that Harris has openly advocated for getting rid of the filibuster in the Senate! Senator Shumer is a leader on this as well. This would fundamentally transform our government into a "50% plus 1" rule which is exactly what our founders advocated against! This is the reason there are two houses of Congress. The House is simple majority rule and is where all bills are supposed to originate. The Senate is supposed to be the "deliverative" body, where yes, majority rule can win the day if no one feels the bill is egregious BUT if a member of the Senate does feel truly threatened by a bill, he / she can filibuster and then it takes a 60 vote threshold to pass a piece of legislation. This stops a simple majority from trampling on the rights of the other 49%. People do complain about this but it does stop or lessen big swings in the direction of governance of the country from happening and brings about compromise. If Kamala is elected and does this, it would change America forever. Harris is also open to changing the makeup of the Supreme Court and increasing it to 12 or 15 members. I am horrified that some can so cavalierly contemplate changing our government in such a substantive way! The Judicial Branch of Government is supposed to be an equal branch of Government to the other two- Legislative and Executive. This is simple intimidation from what is supposed to be a coequal branch of government. One side is completely fine with allowing trans-individuals to compete in sports in the gender of their choice. This is completely unfair to women, some of whom have practiced and worked at their sport their whole life. I see this and I wonder if we have lost all common sense? Speaking of losing common sense, one side is for "children's healthcare" where they would allow puberty blockers and even surgeries to early teen or even preteen children. This is barbaric. Down ticket, people should also realize that Maggie Goodlander is a complete Washington insider and some would say even a carpetbagger. She did grow up in NH but has lived in the DC area for many years and worked in government for most of that time. She is married to Jake Sullivan, who is the current National Security Advisor for Biden and worked for Hillary Clinton. He famously stated that the Middle East was very quiet and America's foreign policy focus could turn to other areas of the globe only 1-2 weeks before Hamas carried out its brutal terror attack on Israel last October 7th in 2023 where 1200 people were butchered. He was the National Security Advisor when we exited Afghanistan in the most inept, foolhardy, and embarrassing manner possible. This cost countless lives, sullied our reputation in the world and emboldened Putin to believe he could get away with invading Ukraine which has led to as many as 400,000 to 750,000 deaths. Our votes have consequences. Maggie Goodlander is Washington DC and would vote in lockstep with liberal policies like the ones above that have gotten us to where we are. Let me know your thoughts ?
